Wk15 Final Project

Here is my final project of the semester. I finished animating the loading screen of my game. I am very proud with how this came out. I put in a lot of hours on just the loading screen alone which was the biggest piece of project to create and let alone animate. Although I did not draw the background screen, I did however have to draw from scratch the gun (which is just another prop art really), the bullet, the head outline, and of course then animate every thing. Really pleased with how it looks and I hope that every one else thinks the same thing. I also, for my final, wanted to some how I could tie all of the pieces together but I soon realized putting multiple gifs in sequence is nearly impossible to do so I will just post all of them so that you can get the full picture. They were ones of previous weeks from now. Please tell me what you think!

Wk14 Upgrade Part 3

Here is my third upgrade. I added a new loading screen. Right now it is still imaged because there is a lot of animation that I want to do this this. For my final, of next upgrade, I plan to animate this loading screen bad animating the loading dots as well as having the gun fire and then the bullet slowing enter the skull after it fills up meaning that game has completely loaded. I will as have random hints keep appearing the screen as the game loads. Then also for the final I will string all of the parts that I have created into one big clip as to show as if someone was navigating the starting screens. I hope you like it, tell me what you think.

Wk14 Upgrade Project Part 2

Here is the second screen to my game which will appear after you "Press the start Button". As you can see it just changes over the character when hovering over them to select which game mode to play. For the next upgrade I plan on doing a simple loading screen which will then launch into a map. I want to make a full long video of the whole thing compiled into one. Tell me what you think.

This was the title screen:

Wk13 Next Upgrade Concept Phase

For my next upgrade I plan on doing the next selection screen of my game which is where players will select whether they will be playing against a CPU or another player. In my idea I want a simple stationary background where each of the selections will be. From there which ever selected option will be illuminated and the other one slightly visible. Players will be able to move to each one illuminating and enlarging the one being selected. For the CPU option I plan on using an image like the one I posted above because I think its a cool looking version of a human created computer. For the player vs player option I was thinking about may just having two characters holding one another at gun point. For the back ground I am still determining what I am going to do but I think this image at the bottom is something that will fit appropriately

Wk13 Upgrade Project

Here is my upgraded title screen. I decided to go at a totally different approach from before. I wanted to go down a little more retro avenue and I also wanted to give a different feel to the game. Being that my game is based off of a board game I wanted to make it simple and short to the point for the title screen. As you can see there is other options other than to press start. For the more upgrading of the projects to come I want to go through the cycles of the screens until you actually get to gameplay itself. After this screen I plan to do a player selection screen as in if you want to do player vs cpu or player vs. player. Please tell me what you think of the new more retro style. Cause I plan on making the screens of selection based on older style games with less options.

Wk12 Upgrade Research Phase

I was thinking about upgrading this piece of work that I did. I originally wanted finish the skull and antlers as well as do some cool stuff with the smoke and as well as maybe create a background for him. I want to continue to improve the shading and coloring abilities so I feel that upgrading this project will allow me to do so.

Wk11 Maze Texturing Final Phase

Here are the renders of my maze where I upgraded some of the images in order to give it more of a horror abandoned feel. As you can see I re did some of the wall designs, floor designs, and also the doors. I add some grass a long the edges between the walls and the floors to make it feel vacant and you can also see the blood stains and random x ray pictures I put on the walls to give it more mood. The light is somewhat bright in some places but still pretty dark and eerie as you can see in the larger render of the maze. I can also play around and see if I can change somethings. Let me know what you think.

Wk11 Maze Texturing Concept phase

Here is an image from the upcoming game Daylight which has kind of been inspiring me to create such a creepy hospital setting which I have been kind of doing in Maya. As you can see in this image the walls are extremely decayed and the floor is very messy giving it the feeling of being abandoned for a long time. I also liked that they used realistic objects that would be normally found in a hospital and the dim lighting that was used to give it a creepy feeling.

In the image to the right I really liked how they kept the open air feeling of the hospital or mental ward as it seems in this picture. I think that the use of no lights and the shadowing given by the windows gives it a creepy feeling that I might be able to create in maya using a more natural light and windows. I know there is a floating figure which I know I would not be able to create but it definitely adds the overall scary vibe given off.
This picture really captured my attention because I love the overall feel and look that it gives off. I like the broken down benches and the over grown floor as well as the door ways and rotting wood of what looks like an older hospital. I think that I want to make my maze more centered around something like this where rather than it being bloody and look like a slaughterhouse have it feel more abandoned than massacred. I would like to add the grass and rotting wood to give my maze this look. I also feel the objects used and the natural light feeling really gives off the image of deserted yet not harmful. I want the feeling of my maze to feel lost and not have a clue whats going on.

Wk10 Maya Model Final Phase

Here is my maze design final form and rendered in Maya. I think that it came out pretty well and that the lighting that I added to it definitely makes it feel a lot more creepy and dark. I also added some light highlights with light bulbs through the map to give it some sort of light. I want to add blood stains and different x ray pictures on the wall at some point but for now this looks pretty good. The maze is my Easy one so it isnt too big but it stills gives your proper room to get lost and find your way out.

Wk10 Maze Model Concept Phase

Here is a rendered build of the base textures that I am going to use for the larger majority of my maze. The theme as you know is a deserted hospital that has been over grown and dilapidated. I have other small textures I will be using such as blood streaks and moss. I also have a double door that I can use a a double wall to change up what images you see during the maze.

Here are the images flat:

Wk09 Maze Design Final

Here is my final design for a hallway that will be in my maze game. I really think it fits an abandon, creepy, bloodstained hospital that you the character will be stuck in and tasked to find your way out of. I have multiple x ray pictures which I will place on different walls maybe given you hints to as if you have been here before or not depending on what I end up doing in maya. I also have to different door images that can be used if you guys do not think that this one will fit in. Please let me know if anything looks off about the image because I truly want this maze to have the full feel and effect when you are trying to find your way out.

Wk09 Maze Game Concept

You awake to find that you have been left alone...in a hospital that seems eerily quiet. You remember going into the hospital after terrifying car crash but you have lost track of all time and contact with the outside world. You don't know how long you have been out or even the day that the crashed happened. Where is everyone? Why don't I recognize where I am? These are all questions you must answer as you try and find your way out of what seems like a hospital that has been sitting there rotting for years. Will you be able to get out? Is there someone else in the hospital with you? Its up to you to see if you can survive whatever the hell happened.

Here is a concept for some texturing I might use here and there

Here is the rough sketches that I did for the types of maze that I wanted. A simple easy one and then progressively got harder with medium, and eventually worked up to a two story hard one.

I wanted to keep the horror style hospital in perspective so I collected some concept art and textures that I can use throughout the maze to help give it that creepy feeling but also not make it too repetitive. Take a look

Wk08 Larger prop final

Here is my start to a hard object to do some shading and coloring and line work too. As you can see I only made it to do the jacket and the rest of it will come along in time. I originally used this image as black and white but decided to add my own color pallet that I thought would be fitting. I used standard colors for the blue suit and and red bow tie. I am going to get around to doing the skull and antlers as well as the hand and smoking cigarette to complete the image. I hope this qualifies for what we are doing thus far.

Wk07 Prop Art Final

Here is the final version of my game prop with the proper coloring and shading done. I think it came out pretty well and really looks like a real gun. I did try to make it as pixel art as I could so you can see that some details are missing or lacking to give it that retro pixel art feel. But other than that I tried to make it as best as I could. Hope you like it!

Here is a research image that I was thinking about using for my next pixel art. I think that this is a pretty cool representation of a future France which has a place for itself in my game. It really shows the eiffel tower gleaming in all its glory and the surround buildings could prove to be cool to do some line work with.

Wk07 Prop Line Art Rough Draft

Here is the photo of my rough draft for the line work that I did. I chose to do a gun, specifically a pistol. I figured that there were to many lines and the color pallet is pretty simple, also I felt that a lot of easy and beginner shading and changes between the colors on the gun would allow for good intro into coloring and highlighting objects in photoshop. I hope it looks good!

wk06 Logo Final Phase

Here is my final logo that I came along with. I decided to add an eye of providence type design in the background which uses a bunch of illustrator type vectors and lines. I thought that it added a cool feel to the title as well as a defining aspect to the logo so it could be recognized. I also wanted it to symbolize money as well as a gang sign since the eye of providence is used on the dollar bill as well in the Illuminati.

Here is a Video of the full logo incorporated into the title screen. I hope it looks cool. GIF was not working so I had to put it in as a video.

Wk06 Logo Rough Draft and Research

These are some of the thumbnail sketches that I had drawn out to grab ideas from and kind of see where I wanted to take this game logo too. I tried a whole bunch of concepts but really liked the more simple ones such as 5, 10, and 3. I don't want something to overwhelming but I still want to get the feeling and mood across that the game should represent.

Here is a Rough Draft of the logo which was just quickly put together cause I wanted to get some feedback on what to do. I choose this type of font because I really liked the look it gives the cyber future feel as well as the colors, I though they blended well together to give a cyber punk retro feel. I also made one character black complete and left the other one detailed to see what you guys would think would fit better. Right now I am leaning towards making them both complete black outlines and positioning them on different ends to balance the logo. I also want to polish up the words with some cool effects.

Here is one of logos I used for research and as a reference, really liked how they incorporated the characters through the words.

Again here I used another fairly simple logo which I seem to like the style of this one has some cool fonts as well as incorporates some cool images extending from the fonts

Again just another simple logo, just really liked the way the words were formatted.

Here are some of the fonts that I thought about using that would add to the feeling of the game.

A blade runner type font

This kind of unique looking font

This funky spray can looking font
