Wk11 Maze Texturing Concept phase

Here is an image from the upcoming game Daylight which has kind of been inspiring me to create such a creepy hospital setting which I have been kind of doing in Maya. As you can see in this image the walls are extremely decayed and the floor is very messy giving it the feeling of being abandoned for a long time. I also liked that they used realistic objects that would be normally found in a hospital and the dim lighting that was used to give it a creepy feeling.

In the image to the right I really liked how they kept the open air feeling of the hospital or mental ward as it seems in this picture. I think that the use of no lights and the shadowing given by the windows gives it a creepy feeling that I might be able to create in maya using a more natural light and windows. I know there is a floating figure which I know I would not be able to create but it definitely adds the overall scary vibe given off.
This picture really captured my attention because I love the overall feel and look that it gives off. I like the broken down benches and the over grown floor as well as the door ways and rotting wood of what looks like an older hospital. I think that I want to make my maze more centered around something like this where rather than it being bloody and look like a slaughterhouse have it feel more abandoned than massacred. I would like to add the grass and rotting wood to give my maze this look. I also feel the objects used and the natural light feeling really gives off the image of deserted yet not harmful. I want the feeling of my maze to feel lost and not have a clue whats going on.

  1. Now this will be interesting. Not only are there a lot of props that you can include, but what I am really interested in is how everything will look in the end.
